IGNIS obtains the AAP for the hybridization of the Escatrón power plant with 311 MW of renewables

IGNIS has obtained the Administrative Prior Authorization (AAP) from the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge for the hybridization project of the Escatrón Peaker power plant (Zaragoza) with renewable generation facilities.
This milestone represents a decisive step in the company’s strategy to integrate clean energy into existing facilities, optimizing resources and advancing toward a more sustainable and efficient energy model.
The project includes the installation of three wind farms, each equipped with 6 MW wind turbines, and a 47.2 MW photovoltaic plant located across the municipalities of Sástago, Chiprana, Caspe, and Escatrón. The total installed capacity will amount to 311.2 megawatts (MW), exceeding the current output of the thermal power plant (274.6 MW).
The AAP, granted on September 29, 2025, authorizes the construction of these facilities, which already received a favorable Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) in March.
IGNIS has maintained a long-standing relationship with Aragón, where it acquired the Escatrón Peaker power plant in 2016, one of the company’s first assets. This milestone not only marks a significant advance in IGNIS’s contribution to the energy transition but also reinforces its ties with Escatrón, where the company began its journey, and with Aragón, strengthening a sustainable energy system that drives the local economy.
With the granting of this AAP, IGNIS consolidates its role as a key player in Spain’s energy transition, promoting the integration of renewable technologies into existing infrastructures to progress toward a more sustainable and efficient electricity model.
